The Project

The Lumberyard project by Lars Hofsjö began in the Summer of 2020, a time when many were forced into self-reflection whilst normal daily life paused, and a global pandemic took root. The future was uncertain, and nothing could be taken for granted.

It was during these unsettled times that Lars decided to relocate from the city to his countryside summer retreat/workshop to focus on creating a unique collection of furniture.

Lars has a strong background as an industrial designer and has created numerous designs and collaborations, which include many commercial successes. However, the Lumberyard Project was purely personal, a pro-active reaction to the situation he found himself in. A project created from the soul, a meditative and fun process, and the only person it had to please was his harshest critic; Lars himself.

The result is an ongoing collection of furniture that speaks equally about art as it does functionality—simple forms and traditional craftsmanship, all created with materials sourced from the local lumber yard.

As the collection has grown, so has outside interest. Finally the time has come to make the collection available to all.
